Happy new month guys and welcome to April!!
It was just like yesterday that we welcomed 2022 and Q1 is officially done already. We probably wouldn’t be talking about this if it hasn’t been an interesting year so far.
For the music industry, Q1 was all about surprises. From artists that you never expect making crazy hits, to producers becoming the focus of the art and owning the charts, to amazing global records and certifications, it has been a good year so far for Nigerian music.
Of course, the new year has ushered in new trends and of course, new numbers to match. Interesting guys have put out important albums and (I just gotta say this one), Kizz Daniel has continued to soar.
Not much controversy yet, Wizkid is still riding the MIL wave (he has a new video for “True Love,” make sure to check it out), Asake is the newest star in town and Rema finally released his long-awaited debut.
But who really owned Q1 2022? Was it Olamide whose work with other artists continued to shine into the year? Or was it Kizz Daniel whose EP, “Barnabas” is still setting records almost a year after? Or can we say it was Asake who released an EP and has now scored a follow-up hit in “Sungba”? Or Skiibii? Or Pheelz? Or our very own BNXN fka Buju?
I’ll leave it up to you guys. You tell us.
Which Artist Do You Think Owned The First Quarter Of The Year?
Let’s hear from you.
